author john saylor John Saylor was raised in Harlan, Kentucky. He was diagnosed with Glaucoma at an early age, but it didn't keep him down. He wanted to run and play just like all the other children. When he started school it didn't take long to realize he wasn't like the other children. Not being able to see well held him back in many academic areas.
When he was eleven he was introduced to the Kentucky School for the Blind and then, things started to change for him. He made a lot of friends at school and realized there were students with vision problems just like him. He was able to make academic strides after that. One weekend, the first year of Middle School he was lonely and homesick for his family so he occupied his mind by using his imagination to do some writing. He wrote a short story about a boy who wanted a bike so bad that he stole one and hid it. The story explained a valuable lesson about life so his teacher submitted it for a short story writing contest and he won a medal in The Young Authors Awards. Ever since then he has used his imagination to help him through personal problems and situations. Writing is such a therapeutic aide in dealing with your inner problems. With the encouragement of his wife he put his stories to paper and working on a couple of novels found him ready to get published. He is now a published author and he's found his purpose. It feels great! Be sure to go to click on John Saylor's book cover, "Shards of Glass" and it will take you where you can purchase it. John's book is also available on Amazon.com and Kindle.com.
